It's a good day to be a Nine Inch Nails fan. Today we received the trifecta in music news: Single, Album, Tour. What more could you ask for?
After a few random and unexpected tour dates were announced, Lollapalooza included, I'm not sure anyone expected Trent Reznor to return with such energy. As recently as 2009, Reznor had spoken at length about a hiatus, even going so far as to have a farewell tour, with a final show taking place at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles.
But the music never really stopped. Within months a new band, How To Destroy Angels, was making music and in 2010, Reznor produced the score for the film, The Social Network. Honestly, it was only a matter of time before Nine Inch Nails returned and today is the day.
Early this morning a new post on the band's website declared: "New single. New album. New tour." Less than 12 hours later, the new single, Came Back Haunted, has over 600,000 plays on their Soundcloud account and pretty much everyone agrees - it's an instant classic. From the pronounced vocals and spiraling synth, to the trademark guitar breakdown, it might as well come with a pair of Doc Marten's.
Came Back Haunted, is the first single from their new album, Hesitation Marks, scheduled for release on September 3rd, via Columbia Records. Pre-order the album through iTunes and get the new single immediately. A 31-city tour starts in late September, hitting almost every major US city.
