John Mayer Announces First Tour in Three Years

John Mayer took to YouTube last week, with a little help from Google+, to announce his first tour in 3 years. Over the course of an hour, Mayer fielded questions from fans, debuted a new song called Dear Marie, and played a few others from last year's Born & Raised

Although the singer has been cleared by doctors to perform after two surgeries to repair a granuloma in his throat, it was apparent his voice is still on the mend. This would be John's second attempt to perform songs from Born & Raised, after canceling his spring tour last year due to the reoccurring throat issues.

I sure hope he's ready because it looks like his summer is packed with 3 full months of shows across the country. The tour starts in July at Milwaukee's Summerfest and winds down at Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl, Oct. 5. Most shows go on sale next weekend, including his Chicago show at First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre, scheduled for Aug. 9.

You can watch the entire announcement below, recorded last Thursday at The Village Studios.
